A conceptual model describing the action possibilities that an object, interface, or environment offers to an actor, distinguishing between the actual possibilities afforded by physical properties and the perceived affordances that depend on the actor’s capabilities, goals, and context. In design, the term guides making relevant actions discoverable and preventing false or hidden affordances.
